But maybe most of the structure is fine and it's fine, we're fine, everything is fine. Hope you get your permits soon; that's a beast. I'm excited to see what your future plans are. My general contractor is also a firefighter. Says those 2x8 builds are far superior to glue-particle board I-beam builds of modern homes. It's the difference between 45 minutes vs 5 minutes to burn your house down. And clutter can also burn down a house faster.

Might want to look up if a controlled burn is something you're allowed where you live. It isn't commonly done for something like this (mostly just fields or leaf piles) but once you get the big stuff out if you burn off the little stubble and rake through/get rid of any dirt patches you should clear out the roots. Likely can't be done at the bottom because of the trees but that should be a small enough spot you can do it by hand or keep on top of if you let it keep growing.

BTW, use some herbicide on those roots on the rocks you pulled up a few episodes back. Hopefully it will slow them coming back. Call your county forester for info. He might come out for free to give you some advise!

Soooo many parallels to the home that we named “The Money Pit”. Leaking roof, the mouse graveyard in the ceiling of the basement, so much mouse poop, so many spiders and earwigs and the vines…were growing everywhere. Once we removed the vines, we discovered a lovely drystone wall along the front of the property…and a window on the second storey that we didn’t know was there. And the flying ants!!! So so many flying ants. You are doing great, it is a labour of love.
